On Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 10 am, Governor M. Jodi Rell and Fairfield First Selectman Ken Flatto held a joint press conference regarding the completion of the Fairfield Train Station Project. In recent months, the Town of Fairfield, DOT, and the private property owner and their private lender have come together and negotiated final aspects of the plan allowing for the much anticipated completion of this transportation and brown field revitalization project. The project will create public commuter parking for almost 1500 cars on 10 acres of the site; Building a new 2 acre town roadway through the site for public access, on land now deeded from the private owner to town. Total project cost is approaching 25 million dollars 80 percent of which is from State bond funding.
