Even the Subway in Tinsel Town Has Glamour
The Hollywood/Vine Metro portal and public plaza in Los Angeles provides an entrance to the Red Line subway and the swank W Hollywood Hotel. A Local architect Rios Clementi Hale Studio designed the portal and plaza to flow with the landmark theaters and plazas that surround it. This is not just any old subway entrance with a set of downgraded steps or escalator. The portal features among other things a transparent canopy over the subway entrance which sheds an abundance of light on the floor below. In true Hollywood fashion different shades of golden glass said to be inspired by the Wizard of Oz’s yellow brick road, allow subway patrons to view movies projected on the side of the building.
